Asian Water Buffalo
The Asian water buffalo is the largest member of the Bovini tribe, which includes yak and bison. Standing 5 to 6 feet tall at the shoulder, they are formidable mammals with sparse gray-black coats. Both males and females carry backward-curving, crescent-shaped horns. They have been domesticated for more than 5000 years due to their peaceful nature, contributing to human survival trough their meat, horns, hides, milk, butterfat, and power, plowing and transporting people and crops. Across the globe, more people depend on this species for their livelihoods than on any other domestic animal.
Did you know...water buffalo lay in mud to repel insects and cool off as they have few sweat glands.
