Travel back in time on Sunday, August 14 to see how crops were harvested before modern equipment.

The day will be filled with events the entire family will enjoy!

Can you believe that there are only a few days left in July? For Hidden Valley Animal Adventure the days are flying by and in this week alone we have welcomed three new members into our family!

   1.) Burro – Born Sunday, July 24, 2011
        A baby burro, averages around 20 pounds at birth. Foals are up and
        nursing within 30 minutes and are weaned between 5-6 months of
        age. They are full grown by three (3) years of age and can live up to
        35 years old.

   2.) Jack the Sheep
        Sheep are one of the earliest animals to be domesticated for agricultural
        purposes, sheep are raised for fleece, meat, and milk. A sheeps wool is
        the most widely used animal fiber, and is harvested by shearing.

   3.) Sika Deer – Born Wednesday, July 27, 2011 
        The Sika Deer is one of the few deer species that does not lose its spots
        upon reaching maturity. Spot patterns on the deer vary with region ranging
        from large spots to very small spots which are almost invisible.  

Be sure to visit Hidden Valley Animal Adventure and welcome our new additions into the family. We are open Thursday through Monday (Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon) from 10am – 4pm and are CLOSED on Tuesday and Wednesday. You can find all the new babies and Jack in the Small Animal Adventure located behind The Lodge at Hidden Valley.

We had the pleasure of having Kevin O’ Neill from Buffalo’s Channel 2  WGRZ join us for a morning! We talked about the park experience and the new baby camel and the “name the baby camel contest”.  The contest is now over and the baby camel has received the name Sheldon!

Ynn Visits HVAA

Animal lovers who have traveled to Canada for the “African Lion Safari” won’t need a passport for an attraction much closer to home. There is an adventure hidden in Wyoming County.

Raising animals is second nature for Hans Boxler, 74. “Oh, I love my animals. That’s why I have them, I guess,” Boxler said. He has 400 of them. Unlike a zoo, the animals roam freely over 63 acres in the Wyoming County Hamlet of Varysburg. “The animals are all in a natural habitat. They aren’t caged up or anything. Baby Camel Needs a Name

The Hidden Valley Animal Adventure Park in Varysburg has a new addition to the animal family. A male camel was born May 11, but so far, he doesn’t have a name.

The animal park is holding a contest through June 19. The top five names will be posted on the website, and the public will then be able to vote on their favorite name…to read more and watch the video click here!
